Frequently Asked Questions
What is RAVE?
The Real Advertising Value Equivalent is a Mediastow initiative to allow PR professionals to not only see the equivalent value of a news item, but also factor in the prominence of the mention of a given company/organization.
What is the Media Prominence Index
Let us say company X is mentioned in an article. You now have the AVE for that particular article. Is it fair to say that if the mention occurred in the headline is the same as the one that would have appeared in the last paragraph? It is not. That means that your AVE value is considerably off the mark.
Please see the Media Prominence Index page for more details.
How do you decide whether an article is Favorable, Neutral or Unfavorable?
Press releases are generally considered Neutral, unless there is a quote from someone who is not directly linked to the organization in question. Favorable and Unfavorable ratings are given to articles that are editorial in nature.
What if I don't agree with your decisions on the editorial tones?
Mediastow is an independent media intelligence consultancy that prides itself in providing unbiased reporting. We do not reverse our decisions based on client requests, unless it is an error on our end. What makes Mediastow's media analsysis of great value is the fact that we have a strict no-compromise policy on the integrity of our data.
I know I should have a press release out but you appear to have missed it. I don't see it in the Media Alert Report (MAR), where is it?
It is there. Occasionally, the process an article takes to get sent to your Media Alert Report takes a few minutes longer than it should, and so it would not appear in the MAR. However, it is available on the emediasearch portal. You can see it once you log in.
