  • Telecom providers and customer satisfaction

    The telecommunication industry, while previously was monopoly-based, has morphed to become a highly competitive one. Three telecommunication providers were evaluated; Etisalat, du and Mobily. Etisalat is a well-established telecommunications provider, while both du and Mobily are relatively new entrants. Mobily is a subsidiary of Etisalat, acting in the Saudi market, while du and Etisalat are competitors in the UAE market.

  • Rivalry between UAE's duopoly intensifies

    Two telecommunications service providers were analyzed in this report; Etisalat and du. A total of 653 clippings out of 112 publications throughout the month of December were monitored and analyzed. Etisalat’s stock performance along with NBK Capital Telecom report, TAB Research GCC Market Report and Global Investment House Economic Report were correlated and integrated in this report.

    Etisalat has enjoyed being a telecommunications service provider monopoly in the United Arab Emirates since 1976 up until du’s entrance in February 2006. Etisalat still maintains its pole position in the market, while du continues to capture more market share.

  • Growth to return to Telecoms market this year (2010)

    The UAE telecom market remains a strong duopoly. The UAE has one of the most developed telecom market and technologically advanced telecom infrastructure in the Gulf, according to the Global Information Technology Report produced by the World Economic Forum. It also stands in 7th place in the latest Business Environment Rankings for the telecoms sector of the Middle East. Its Mobile penetration reached 211.7% in June 2009, the highest in the world.
