This report is an analysis on the Middle East’s financial sector’s media coverage for the month of August. The report takes a closer look at three local banks; Dubai Islamic Bank, National Bank of Dubai and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, as well as three international banks; HSBC, Standard Chartered and Arab Bank. In addition to Middle East publications, Indian Hindustan Times, which featured an article on Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and UK’s Daily Mail, which featured an article on HSBC, were added to the coverage scope of the report. A total of 2,395 articles out of 114 publications; newspapers/magazines/websites were covered. A comparison of the tonality, coverage reach (impressions), coverage size, share of voice, Advertising Value Equivalent (AVE), Real Advertising Value Equivalent (RAVE), key messages and penetrations are provided in this report, thus outlining the success or lack of, of the PR campaign by each of the six banks amidst the climate of the financial sector as a whole. A relationship is then drawn between the previous financial successes of those respective banks with their PR campaigns’ activities and effectiveness during the period. Sector activities and trends were monitored. Genre, country, language and publication type penetrations on the financial sector’s coverage were also tabulated. Detailed attributes were gathered from every newspaper/magazine/website article on the three local banks; Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank and National Bank of Dubai, as well as the three international banks; Arab Bank, Standard Chartered and HSBC.
